Land of the  Setting Sun

Just beyond Zion National Park, a home built to embrace the raw desert landscape. Its solid facade is anchored within the terrain, monolithic on approach as the topography rises steeply to meet it.

The residence unfolds as five distinct modules, joined by floor‑to‑ceiling glass sky bridges that hold the desert in view even in passing from one to the next. Each opens to the landscape on both sides, a collection of private worlds rather than a single mass.

Natural materials, plaster and stone, will gracefully patina with the surroundings, enriching the connection to the landscape over time.

One of my favorite times of day in the desert is just before the sun drops below the horizon. The home really starts to come to life. It’s a transformation of senses.
